Documentary Filmmaking Class -
Sunday, October 19

After the completion of Mr. Reynolds "Master Acting Class" there was a big demand for more educational opportunities at The Burt Reynolds & Friends Museum. Due to this demand the museum offered an in depth lecture series on "Producing a Documentary Film." The class offered a step-by-step study in the production of a documentary and included information on: Choosing and researching your subject, Your targeted market, Deciding format, How to get funding, Pre-production, Production, Post-production (focusing on editing), and How to market your film.

The cast of instructors included Frank Eberling who for more than 40 years has written, shot and directed many award winning documentaries.
Shane Phillips - Editor of Thunderhead Productions of Palm Beach.
Jim Lewis shared his experience as a camera operator on many Hollywood sets including Evening Shade, Cybil, Cannonball Run and Sharkey's Machine to name a few. Other presenters included Chris Conway who is a sound expert, the Palm Beach County Film Office and other experts in the field of filmmaking.

The workshop consisted of ten (10) three hour-long classes beginning Sunday, October 19 from 7 to 10 pm, running Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays. Cost for the series is $400. Under the Willie E. Gary/Burt Reynolds Outreach Program scholarships for this class were available for qualified financially disadvantaged students.
